Friday night, July 9, 8-10 PM (EST) the new Internet radio show Racin' & Rockin' with Draglist.com remembers one of the pivotal events in drag racing history: Don Garlits' clutch explosion at Lions Drag Strip.
Joining us for this discussion are:
Don Garlits - the legendary racer who survived this event and used it as the impetus for the creation of the next generation of top fuel race cars, the rear engine dragster.
Larry Sutton - the starter at Lions who first assisted at Garlits' car then rushed to the stands to assist the fan who almost had his arm severed in the explosion.
Tim Ditt - the drag racing fan who was hit by a part of Garlits' severed drum and whose life was saved by Sutton.
Mickey Bryant - Chronicler of these events and other great drag racing books.
In our other great segments, Danny White brings us a new Drag Racing List of the Week. This week, Danny details the top 10 Fuel Funny Cars of all time and his reasons for choosing them. Disagree? Call in to tell us yours!
TALES FROM THE STONE AGE with George "The Stone Age Man" Hutcheson is on hiatus this week because the Stone Age Man is out at the NHRA Museum in Pomona getting his car inducted! (Congrats, George!)(But before he left, George lined up Mickey Bryant, who lined up our other special guests this week!)
As always, Bill Pratt, Danny White, and John "WildcatOne" Bockelman will run down this week's drag racing news and next week's drag racing happenings. CALL IN and tell us what YOU have going on! Events? Shows? New car? SPILL IT!
BURN UP THE PHONE LINES, race fans! Tell us your opinion on: 1320 feet, 1000 feet, or eighth mile! Four wide? Team drag racing! Natural tracks vs. heavy VHT! Ford vs. Chevy vs. Mopar! Whatever!
Too shy for the Mike? Send us your questions at radio@draglist.com and we will try to come up with an answer!
Be sure to join us for a live chat during the show at http://dragracersreunion.ning.com/
