Sounds like a cool idea. We did that on DragList 7 years ago. Held it in the middle of the country and had people from as far away as both coasts, Texas to Canada show up. It worked out so well we're still doing it. Held our 7th at the World Series of Drag Racing in Cordova, IL last month.

I'd like to join in depending on timing and location. I have done something similar put together on Bass fishing forums, we had a ball.
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Bonneville sounds neat, and I would love to do it someday, but I'm not sure that it's the right venue for this type of gathering. The salt is pretty much out in the middle of nowhere, or at least you can see nowhere from there, there are limited accommodations, and the nearest airport is a hike. Dave's idea of selecting one of the regional NSRA or Good Guys shows makes more sense - people close enough can drive in and participate, and others can fly in and be spectators. With good weather it could be a good Friday/Saturday/Sunday event seeing the cars, then hooking up for dinner somewhere in the evenings. I might be game, depending on where & when.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

I like the idea of a get together, would be a fun deal.... Holding it in conjunction with a big show and shine isn't my idea of the best venue, but I guess it makes sense so that more people could justify the time and expense.... Goodguys used to at least have some Autocross competition, hopefully the still do that...Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

No idea, just that Hot Rods to me are all about going fast and competition!!!! I guess if we were all rich and had time to make the trip either El Mirage or Muroc would be the place. Heck, that's where it all started!!!!! I've just never been a real fan of the big shows and sitting around all weekend when I could be racing!!!!! Just me, though....I burned out on NSRA shows in the mid 80's.
I'd also jump right in and go with the majority's decision of a locale for a get together!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

We have had a few of these with the other forum I am a member of,down here..It did work, but a few just didnt seem interested, for one reason or another..I like the idea,,but it would be out of our price range, down here..But we could have a regional meeting..That would be almost identical to a NZ hotrod forum meeting..Deja vu..
We have a few members down here..and at least half of them could probably get together..Micah 6:8

I don't think "it" is something for everyone. But, like all clubs, some folks will enjoy a get together more than others, and that's fine. I actually was wondering what would draw a fella from "down under"? If it was big enough to entice a trip that large... then the "locals" would find it more than tempting. That's why I was thinking about Bonneville. It's gotta be on everyones bucket list I think.
But this will need to be about some compromises so that a majority of folks can schedule the time and accomodations can be found, etc. etc. etc.
But, it would be great if some of our southernmost club members could make the show! I'll be thinking of you!

As Johnny Cash sang, "if the Good Lord's willin' and the creek don't rise" ..... and my good wife's willin' and my doctor's willin' and my bank account 's willin' and my old Dodge is willin', then I would like to be there.
There are some hands I would look forward to shaking.

For me,it would be possibly a once only chance to meet up with all you folks that I have been sharing time with for the last five years or so..Lynda and I have been talking about a trip to America,,which would probably be a 6 week trek across the country, and back,or as much as possible..The last time I was up there was in 1991,for about three weeks, and didnt do as much as I would have liked..Bonneville would be kool...maybe a bit too much heat for Lynda,though.. What ever happens,,I feel a trip coming ...probably not for a few years yet though..Micah 6:8
