"WOW'' is close enough Emmett!
Originally, two or three hundred years back, it was derived from the blasphemous 'Christ Almighty!' as an exclamation of amazement and surprise, but has long since lost its blasphemous connotation.
(Not many people know that!)
It's commonly used right throughout Australia and New Zealand as an emphasis or exclamation to a following comment.
As in: "Crikey mate; but your missus is ugly! Oh! It's your dog? Well by crikey I would never have guessed it!"
(But you'd have to be both faster and bigger than the other bloke before you passed a comment like that . . . )
