Thanks for posting, Ray. Our wing of the "Commemorative Air Force" (used to be "Confederate", but no longer PC) had their annual air show this past weekend, too, but I went to Turkey Creek Saturday instead. They don't do cars, but should.....Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Don, the 3 window took it's class and I think overall best. Interesting that an old custom style would be that recognized at a small show. It was nice.
Roger, the yellow/orange trainer is a member of a group that go around the air shows and give free rides to veterans, especially WWII. I was over talking to the pilots wife and teasing her as to why she was not in the plane when it was taking off. She said a WWII Vet was going up, a 91 year old female. When they got up, she asked him to do a couple of rolls. Lady has balls.
Ryan, figured you would ask about the 40. Remember how you were thinking about no rear bumper? Good example here. Also check out the humor about shaving the door handles. They had a teardrop trailer to match and the kids were sleeping in it every once in a while. The Dodge coupe was built by the fellow sitting behind it for his wife. Look what he stuffed under the hood.
Cougar was nice, good color.

Thanks for those additional pics! I have the same mirrors for mine. Those bullet holes are funny. That 40 has a nice look to it. My driver's side door fits just like his. The Hemi in the coupe is sweet, and the Cougar is very nice. That Hemi looks like a 392, I like the dual quads!

that 91 year old WWll lady veteran was probably a WASP----don't remember exactly what it stands for , but once did have a group of them flying on my flight somewhere?------A couple of them were looking onto the cockpit while deplaning and my young, junior co pilot said something that stirred them up a bit, and one remarked---"Sonny, I have more experience xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxx than you do!!!!!!!!!!( well it was pretty funny-----------) was a tremendous honor to have folks that served our country in the pioneer days of air to stop by on the way off the plane------------

The WASPs were ferry pilots, moving all types of aircraft to ports of embarkation and military bases. The idea was to free up male pilots for combat duty.
There were only 1,074 of them, and 38 were killed in accidents. In return for their service, this was our government's so-called 'reward' for those that died: "They were not considered military under the existing guidelines. A fallen WASP was sent home at family expense without traditional military honors or note of heroism. The army would not even allow the U.S. flag to be placed on the coffin of the fallen WASP."
On July 1, 2009, the United States Congress awarded the WASP the Congressional Gold Medal.Jack

Thanks jack--------
I knew a few other guys that were ferry pilots during the war-somehow they weren't selected for military pilot training but somehow were flyers--------It was shocking to find out that they were expected (and did) make the first take off full power test flight of the aircraft and if successful continued the flight with the first landing coming at the destination point------don't know how many times that would be accurate but does seem that in those days and level of production and deployment that it was real-------
In our neighborhood, 2 blocks down the hill was a gas station that (to me) all the cool car guys hung out there. 32 coupes, 33 & 34 Fords as well, a sweet 56 Ford Beach wagon that was setup gasser...
How did you get hooked on cars?
