The Iowa State Fairgrounds is one of the best venues for a Goodguys type event that I've seen. Somewhat similar to the fairgrounds at Pleasanton, CA with old, stately trees and plenty of indoor space for the vendors. Wish I could be there, but not this year.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

I'm not making it this year, but went last year while I was visiting my daughter in Cedar Rapids. She has since moved back to Utah so I don't have an excuse to go to Iowa anymore.
I was very impressed with both the cars of the midwest and the great Des Moines fairgrounds. If I lived a bit closer this would be a show i wouldn't miss.

Good guys was nearly a wash for me. I took my Vette down Friday night and my middle brother cruised in it all weekend. I ended up working on the truck through Friday and not getting it down to good guys until Saturday afternoon. I had other plans with the family that night so I let my youngest brother take it in and enjoy it. Sunday the family and I went down and had a good time. I haven't had time to build the kids tot rods like I've been wanting to and I found a guy close to us building some. They aren't perfect, but for the price, I couldn't beat it. I want the kids to have these memories and I didn't want to miss the opportunity. So, first I got them the little tractor and wagon. When I went to pick it up the guy had the beginnings of a little roadster he was working on. It was kind of rough. We went over some changes and we agreed on him building another. I provided the rear wheels, tires, and spindles, he provided the rest. Once he got it finished, I took it to my friend Bud and he striped it. I tell you what, I should have gotten 2 roadsters because the kids fight over who wants to ride in it! These things sure helped keep the kids occupied and they were quite content looking at all the cool cars and trucks. It went great.Ryan

The only issue we had was the new (4yr old) heater core in the truck began to leak and the new belt is annoyingly squeaking. Dumb stuff. The kids's roadster and little tractor had rave reviews from everyone. I almost think I should just build them instead of working on diesel trucks. Less head aches and drama! My wife even drove the 72 around too. All in all 2016 GG's was a great one for us!Ryan
