    Valve Springs

Since I don't want my stock valve springs to float at around 4,000-4,500rpm's, I have heard that stock Lincoln/Zephyr springs are good for 6,000rpm's or better. If so I can get a set and wanted to know if this is correct. I plan to run my flattie at rpm's of no higher than 6,000. Also does anyone know if ford or mercury used adjustable tappets?
Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Don't hold me to it, but I believe the adjustable tappets on the flatties were only an aftermarket deal. Messed with a flattie years ago and that was the first go fast parts I bought for it, though!!!

well i am building one right now. i think i would not run one that hi with stock rods scat makes a nice mass for the flat heads. i would look at the isky springs i think i will used the kit from isky ajustable lifters from crower or isky i think jonhson lifter made them but do not think they were stock on any flat heads

If you're serious about that kind of rpm, leave the stock lifters in there. The adjustables are great, but they're heavier and lead to earlier valve float. Save your money for some con rods.
