48 pontiac staight 8
i just bought a 48 silver streak in rough but solid shape for $500. Im interested in using alot of the parts for my 31 model a truck expsecialy the flat headed straight 8 and 3spd standard. Has anybody here tried this or forsee any problems besides the fact that the block is 39 inches long!
How about some info on this monster motor, displacment? Horsepower? reliability? problems to look out for?

I dont know about putting it in a model a but the straight 8s are excellent engines. I have one in a 47 and have had it on the road for 10 years. The motor has 247 cubic inches and if rebuilt to spec will last over 100,000 miles when taken care of. They have between 90 & 100 horse-power stock. Dont let that scare you, they pull as good or better than a modern Chevy 6 250 straight. They are easy to build and if you need a parts supplier Terrill Machine has the hard parts for a reasonable price. Let me know if I can help.
