Dove heads on 460
I have a chance to purchase a set of dove 429 heads for 200$. I want to put them onto my 460 that i'm rebuilding. I know they will fit. My question is do I need different pushrods and what cam will work best with these and still keep some street manners?

As far as I can recall, it should take the same pushrods, but it depends on what year your 460 and the current rocker arm style you had. I've got D0VE heads on the '70 460 in my '76 1/2T shortwide Pu. Somewhere in the mid 70's, Ford dropped the adjustable/studmount valvetrain for the cruddy bolt down style rockers. There could be a real slight possibility that the pushrods for the bolt daown rockers are different, but I doubt it. Under normal circumstances, you shouldn't need a change in pushrods unless the block's deck height is different than the donor engine or you've changed out some pieces for aftermarket pieces. (i.e. rocker arms or screw-in studs) All the 429/460 heads are physically all the same, but I'll check my books (not at home rihg now, at dads) and see if there was a deck height change in the production run of the 429/460.Dan Ouellette

Thanks guys
I appreciate the advice. I am going to get the heads professionally rebuilt and ported. I'll post again when I find out how they do.
Thank you Roger. .
