Need help with my 69' T-bird
What did I get myself into... I have a 429 with c9ve-a heads not sure what kind of heads those are or if I should get new ones. I wanna turn it into a 514 stroker but maybe I should stick w/ the 460. the car only had 87,000 miles on it, it sat for 20 years. bought it for 800 bucks. worked on imports for 6 years and decided to grow up a little after gettin in the navy. I need some help, tips what ever ya got. I wanna get alot of power from this engine. the car wieghs a woppin 4300 pounds so the bigger the better right. Already have 800 cfm carb and intake manifold and just tryin to figure out which way to go. wow this is now a novel, better leave it at that for now. thanx

Build the stroker! That heavy T-Bird needs one.
The C9VE-A heads that you have will work great with such an engine. The C9VE-B block is a good candidate too, because of the deck height.
But save your overbores...in other words, if the block is still standard bore, then just go .030" overbore. All the cubes and power come from the increased stroke, not the bore job.
If you buy a SCAT rotating assembly with the 4.14 crank and the 4.39 bore 22cc dished pistons, you will have a 501 cubic inch motor with about 10.3:1 compression ratio.
The carburetor that you have will work fine for this street application. It will be very improtant that the heads get a decent port job, particularly on the exhasut side,a nd then the proper camshaft fitted to the build.
More later, gotta run.
