I've got c's heard lots of good stuff about them. Paul would be the definative on this one though. Dave might have a preference too?

C8VE (1968), C9VE (1969), D0VE-A, and D0VE-C (1970) heads are all essentially the same cylinder head configuration. The D0VE-C castings are simply the most common and also the easiest to identify/remember since they are known as "dove" heads. Frankly, you could bolt a C8VE head on one cylinder bank and a D0VE-C head on the other cylinder bank and your engine won't know the difference.

There is one detail about the D0VE heads (A & C) that you need to look for: The 1970 heads were available with or without Thermactor passages, meaning that the heads may or may not be drilled for the smog pump. C8VE and C9VE heads are never drilled.

'si have had good luck with "police" heads off of 429's of the early 70.'s they have the big valves of the cj but standard ports. i have several set but they are not for sale. i usually polish the combustion chambers and port and polish the exhaust runners. i have a set on my 494 and they work great.i feel that the scj heads should be for race only i get great low end and amazing mid range with heads.the car (69 galaxie/4-speed) is used on the street only
