    Actually i figured it out!
    I unbolted the front engine mounts,put a jack
    underneath the harmonic balance then put two
    pieces of wooden blocks to support it,slid the
    jack out and removed the pan,

    That works too ....but don't forget that the damper is two piece and you can break the rubber elastomer seal, especially on a 32 year old engine - then you wonder why the timing is so far off Oh yeah, another 460 PITA - the dist can 'freeze" in place, then you have another problem
