fe motor i bought
I recently purchased a FE motor from someone who had started parting it out at prices beginning at $1.00. I purchased what he had for $200. The motor was apart. I need help identifying the parts. The only part i know for sure is the crank. It has number 3U which i know is a late 390 crank, as for the rest, well here goes:
Block:C6ME-A
Intake:C8AE 9425-F
Intake #2: C5AE 9424-E
Heads:C6AE-R
Rods: (7) C7AE-B
(1) C6AE-C
There are also push rods and rockers and some pistons that the seller said that the machine shop screwed up. The main components are my main concern. Any help is very appreciated. Thanks.Last edited by blue57ford; 06-19-2005 at 04:32 PM.

The C6ME-A block could be a 352,360,390,428, or even a FT 330 or 391. That same number was used on different bore blocks. Best to measure the cyl bore. 4.00 bore is a 352, 4.05 a 352 and 390, and 428 a 4.13. You can also measure the inside wall core thickness. I'd say with the 3U 390 crank a good chance it's a 390 block. The C8-F intake is a 390 GT intake. The C5 I have a no confirming listing yet. I show a C5AE-9424-C as a 1x4 low riser and a C5AE-9425-E as a 2x4 aluminum lowriser. You sure that's the right number? C6AE-R heads nice 352,390 heads. The C7AE-B rods were both small bolt and large bolt rods depending on the engine. The large bolt were common to the 428CJ. The C6 rod is the same weight as the C7's and also used in numerous applications. G.

Hey thanks for the info. The C5 intake is indeed the 2X4 lowriser. As for the block, I might just go to the local machine shop and have them take a look since the block has two sleeved bores. Are there any other number to look for in the heads that might help me further identify them? I ask cause someone else told me in another forum that they are junk and should get rid of them because there intake port was too large. Dosen't make sense. I really appreciate the input. Thanks abunch.

The C6AE-R heads are nice runners with a little work. Lots of guys prefer to use these heads. They have 71-74 cc chambers and stock valve size was 2.02 in and 1.55 ex. They are listed as a 352 head but some have found their way onto 390s. The date code is above the casting number under the valve cover area. It's between the center two valve springs. Look for a number/letter/number sequence like the date code on the block. BTW the date code for the block is below the oil filter adapter mounting pad on the block. It's on the small angled ridge. If you post them I can let you know the born on dates for them.
