Scary LOW oil pressure on 428 FE
I'm looking for the correct way of adjusting the Rockers on my FE.
I've tried several different ways and they never get quite!
I think, not sure, but:
I turned the motor over till the Exhaust Valve "just starts" to open and I adjusted the Intake. I backed off the adjuster until the rocker was loose. I then turned the pushrod as I tightened the adjustment down, till I felt resistance. I then turned the adjuster, 1 full turn.
I turned the motor over till the Intake Valve "just starts" to close and adjusted the Exhaust.
Someone told me that I wasn't doing the Exhaust right?! They told me to watch the valve and when "it" CLOSES, meaning at the seat, adjust the Exhaust.
I think the "someone" is correct, cause the other way doesn't work.
Any Help Here, Would be GREAT! Thanks, Ray

Hey Thanks,
Not going to call Crane, just a missunderstanding on the meaning of "close" I was adjusting the Exhaust when the Intake valve was completley open and just STARTing to close. NOT when the valve was almost completely CLOSED! My mistake!
And by the way, I found a BIG reason why my OIL PRESSURE was low... OIL FILTER, yes I said oil filter! Brand new motor, everthing clean enough to eat off of, and the Motorcraft Filter was the problem. Now let's hope the motor isn't damaged!
That's all I changed, and the pressure was almost liveable! 75+psi cold, and 35+ hot. And oil pressure now moves up on throttle up.
I still have to adjust those lifters correctly.

If you get one valve wide open and adjust the other one on that cylinder, you can't go wrong.
I got a bad filter on an S10 that ran for weeks with very little pressure . Didn't hurt it much. Low pressure isn't the same as no pressure at all.
