The C3AE-H was the service replacement for the C3AE-E 390PI blocks. The C3-H block is a hyd lifter block and the lifter oil galleys were simply blocked if used in a solid cam application. Not many books list the H block. It was pretty much a dual purpose block and used in a few different applications. The C3-E blocks were soild lifter blocks. Look at the block casting number closely to be sure. I use a tooth brush to clean the number area and a mag glass to zoom in on the number. Some of the casting numbers are faint and not very ledgeable.
