They are two different heads. The C7's are ok but the C6's are better. Chambers are different on both and the C6 has larger intake ports also. So that's what your looking at. Value wise the C6-R maybe $50-100. The C7-A $30-50. That's with the heads in good shape. No sunken valves or excessive milling.

I've got something similar here... I took my 390 apart a couple of weeks ago and two different castings came off that engine:
the head on the right is a c6ae-r casting and the one on the left is a d2teaa casting
can't place the left casting number... Am I looking at the same problem of different type heads, like mlanden is?
ow and also for sale these heads...
greetz,
tomGoing sideways through a bend isn't considered normal or even sane, so that's the way I like it!

Hi Tommie,
The D2TE number is a 1972 truck engine casting. I don't have specs on it - I'm sure someone will offer them.Tim -

Tommie those are two different castings. The C6-R's have 71.2-74.2 cc chambers. Guys call them the "poor mans CJ heads". They are also a low riser casting. The D2-AA is a 72-76 truck casting common to the 360/390's. The chambers are smaller at 68.1-71.1 cc's and they have hardened valve seats for unleaded. They are also a medium riser casting. Both have different size intake ports. Pretty much a mismatch for sure. G.
Thank you Roger. .
