390 Casting Numbers
6024 on one head
5J22 on other.
Did these work with 2 Barrel or 4 Barrel Carbs?
Thanks

I think your reading the wrong numbers. Look between the two center sparkplug holes. You should see a letter number combination that looks like C8AE 6090 A or so. The first 3 letter and number combo indicate the year, the 6090 stands for head and the Last letter or in some cases two letters is the application.
These two threads should help you. [url]http://www.clubhotrod.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3196&highlight=Head+http://www.clubhotrod.com/forums/sho...asting+numbers

Once you get the right numbers, I am sure FFR428 will be along to help you figure out what you have. He's extremely helpful and knowledgeable on casting numbers.
Oops, forgot one thing. The first grouping could read for example C8TE the TE means they are truck heads. the AE means they are car heads.Last edited by Oldf100fordman; 10-21-2005 at 01:07 PM.

And if your looking for block casting numbers they should be on the right side of the block. Duane mentioned where to find them on the heads. The 5J22 is probably the head's date code. 65/Sept/22nd decodes that and they would be located between the center two valve springs on the head. The block will have a date code similar to that below the oil filter adapter area. Lots of the FE blocks have the same casting numbers for different bores so you might have to measure the cyl bore to figure which it is. So let us know what you find....

FFR428, G, don't you just love it when you try to help a person out and they don't even acknowledge it or come back with the rest of the info so you can answer him?? This has been his only post so I guess he didn't really want to know.Duane S

LOL yea some come back and some don't. In some cases family or computer issues can prolong things I've found. But some lose interest or get the info they need elsewhere and move on. I'm on 13 different forums and often see the same question on 3-4 different forums. LOL.
