Engine Component I.D.
Greetings. This is my first post at this great site. I have recently removed my 56 Ford F100 from mothballs (20 years since I blew the tranny doing burnouts, I was sixteen)
This vehicle was purchased by my dad for $200 at an abandoned vehicle auction and had a FE motor installed at some point before his purchase.
I have recently removed the engine and have begun what seems a puzzle to identify the components. I have read a great deal in this forum and some others and have not found the answers. Any help would be appreciated.
Here are the numbers I have located.
Block - Passenger side: HP 32 Drivers: 2H31:3
C3AE HP stamped on front
6015 - D
Rear: 24
HP
2J11 stanped on bottom behind oil pan bolts.
1 stamped on front driver side boss
A stamped on rear passenger boss
3 stamped on rear drivers boss
I cannot find the specific number referenced. C3AE is 1963 Galaxie but 6015 - D? Also does HP designate high performance and is this block something special?
2H31: 3 is August 31 , 1962 production date?
Is 2J11 a machining code = October 11, 1962?
Heads - COAE 29
6090 - D
Cast in both.
Crank - C3AE - C
Caps holding crankshaft: C2AE
Rod caps: C1AE
Intake: Aluminum! No numbers found.
I tried to learn all I could before this posting to not waste anyone's time. I have a lot to learn about engines, especially FEs.
It appears this engine is compiled of several parts from various engines. What I would like to do is determine what is cool and what is not before making a decision on rebuilding or not.
Thanks for everyone's help and for the forum. It is great.
