help please
i have a 352 in my galaxie i ran fine but had no gas tank so i hooked up a line running to a 5 gallon can well the other day i got a tank that i had to have custom made and installed it well my old fuel pump wouldnt pull the fuel and i had a few loose hose clamps so i wasnt getting much fule to the motor well i tightened them and put the new pump on now i runs horrible it smokes and when you stand over the motor you can hear air sucking into the carb and it makes wird sucking noises and its not smooth sounding what is strange it that i touched nothing but the fuel pump so i have no clue why it wont run right i finally drove it and i wouldnt idle below 1000rpm and its not making much power i always idled at 500rpm fine but now it wont smooth out until you rev it i just cant understand what could be wrong after i brought it home from driving it, the car cut off in my driveway and i would start up and run but i seemed like it was flooding real bad b/c it would start and run for a second that cut off then you had to wait for about 20min b4 it would start again so it seems like the problem it getting worse the carb is a holley 4160 and the cam is .530 lift wih .280 duration and .230 @.50

Tyler, capitalization and punctuation can be very helpful. If you use them when you post something, people won't automatically think you are a dolt. Good luck with your vehicle problems. Please look below for more about my car...

f.e. trouble
I would also consider the power valve. That will definetly make it smoke from
being to rich.

hey tyler i agree with dennyW ur problem sonds like a vacuum leak or since u put a new fuel pump in it could have changed the fuel pressure in the lines, what u want to shoot for is around 6 psi

Make sure the fuel is flowing freely from the new tank. Since the problem started when you switched tanks, that's the first place to look.

Limit fuel pressure at the carb inlet to no more than 6 lbs. with a regulator.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.
Thank you Roger. .
