    fireing order????

back again with a question about my engine. I think its a 390 but, here is the fireing order that works: 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
In my chiltons book it says this fireing order is for a 351 & 400. the fireing order they list for a 390 is wont even get her started. Does anyone know what engine this fireing order is good for? 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
    Thanks
    - Mac

I have a fastback 68' Galaxie XL. I'm trying to figure out what the engine is.
The number between the spark plugs is: C8AE-H. Block casting date is June 18th, 1968(8F18) there is also a letter V and W next to the date near the oil filter.

    Valve cover sticker: C8AE-9C485-8
    Intake Manifold: C8TE9426A
    Exaust manifold is: C8AE-9430-A
    Thanks for Your support!

Well, someone on here will be a better decoder than me, but I think that C is for 1960 and the 8 makes it 1968, so it looks like the original engine for that year car. What is the story, did you get it in not running condition, or what?

the firing order 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 is good for early model 289-302 all FE's and 385 series(429-460) motors, 351-400 and late model 302's have a different firing order

    Thanks Much....
I guess that Chiltons can make mistakes too, as they have that order for a 390.
