Apperently this motor is rebuilt with a performer intake, 600cfm edelbrock performer carb and it had hooker headers on it. The owner thinks its a 390 and it's in a 68 pickup. He bought it this way.
I have seen alot of stuff on the internet that say this could be a 390 or a 428 or a "330"????, or a 428PI(police interceptor)
Does any of this info help with what motor it probably is?
Thanks

police intercepters weren't much different than stock FE motors, i believe the only major difference was an aluminum intake manifold that dropped a lot of weight off the engine, you'd know how much weight if you've ever picked up an FE intakejust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

That block could be anything from a FT 330MD to a FE 428 with that casting number. Both FE and FT blocks in every shape and size used that casting number as Denny mentioned. Being it's in a truck makes it very difficult to ID. You'd need to remove a head to measure the cyl bore. You can check the stroke easy enough. Search the site like Denny suggested. Lots of ID info has been posted over the years. Good luck, G.Last edited by FFR428; 09-16-2006 at 05:26 PM.

Ya'll aint' gonna like this but here it is.
This is perfect example of FORD poor QA processes a ways back. Lack of identity with their products is inexcusable; but it continues to pop up nowadays...............
I think they have corrected a lot this lately though ............
