    My FE is all done!

Ive just finished the rebuild on my 65 390 i got out of a merc commuter s/w.Its going in my 62 galaxie xl.I still have the original 352.The machine shop bored the 390 .030 and installed hypereutectic pistons 9.5 to1.Im running a crane 901 cam witha stock oil pump .i used the master kit from flatlanders.Im running FPA ceramic coated headers (700.00) but they dont drop down low and fit perfect. ive used my stock intake(75 lbs whew!) and a 4100 autolite 1.12 that i rebuilt and like a lot.Im also using a petronix in a stock dizzy.I may update later to a edelbrock .I hate leakin Holleys!.Im also using shell rotella 30wt due to zinc content that the oil cos took out of conventional oils due to there harmful effects on cat convertors.Ill keep my fingers crossed. I expect to start it up in a weelk or 2.Mike

Rotella has changed their formula I've heard. It's now a CJ rated oil with much less zinc content. So be sure to check the rating if you still haven't filled er up. A CI-4 rated diesel oil is the best bet. And some crane breakin additive or GM EOS.

Hope all goes smooth....sounds like a nice engine!
