427 Industrial motor
My son in Washington has a chance to pick up a 427 industrial but some body there is telling him they have a different deck height. I am trying to tell him that the person has FE's confused with Chevy 427 industrial motors. Am I correct that the industrial FE's have the same deck height as standard FE's?Duane S

Yes I'd think they do. Here is one to look at that came with 2 bolt mains instead of the popular crossbolts. But the crossbolt bosses are cast in and it's a easy add on if it's a 2 bolt main block.

Either way it's worth it to buy if it is a 427 and a decent price.Last edited by FFR428; 08-25-2007 at 03:25 PM.

There are a few guys who were buying and selling 70's era 428 industrials for a while. I think one is the guy that has that site. The shortblocks were the HD casting with all stock CJ internals. IUB crank, big bolt rods and stock cast CJ slugs. I'd ask them about the 427 as they would know first hand. There are been some weird industrial engines out there. Some 427's I've heard found with steel cranks and LeMans rods. So anything is possible I'd say.
Tell him good luck and I hope it's a good lead and a Ford 427!

One thing to watch for on a FE industrial engine is the diameter of the bottom pilot hole for the distributor. If it has the heavy oil pump drive, the pilot hole in the block is bigger, 33/64" I think. To use a performance dist., it should be bushed, or use the larger pump drive and dist. gear.

I don't know, as that is the last message I got from him. I do know that he was planning a vacation. So I am thinking he is in Stockton, Ca visiting his Mon and step Dad. I'll let you know when I find out. But I'm going to be gone for a while starting Friday due to an operation.Duane S
