If the car is done to a GT500 clone correctly and it ahs this probably, Galaxy motor. What's it worth when retored stock fastbacks are going for 25-30k w/ just 289's? I assume you could get that galaxy motor built up well enough with heads, intake and a little extra work? What is a good motor? Does anybody have any info on it? Thanks for all the help. I just had a baby the other day and my wife is almost ready to kill me over this.

Hard to say on value without seeing the finished project..... The clone buyers are getting to be a very fussy lot, and the original car guys won't even look at it..... Depends on what you can buy it for, how close a copy you make it, the quality of the work and components used, and a host of other things. IF you do all the labor yourself, and when done it's a #1 car that is very well documented as to it's history, and the parts are at least of the correct date code and you load it up with every option that was possible on a real Shelby and the market stays strong on Shelby's (doubtful when looking at present economics) you might have a $50K to a $100K resale on the car. With anything less then the absolute best parts, flawless labor, perfect fit and finish, or having to hire out much of the labor you would be lucky to get a break even price...

I'm not trying to discourage you from doing the build, just wanted to share a bit of what I've learned on doing clones over the years and let you know that it is a very tough, tough market. It's an expensive and risky project if you're doing it as a money maker. If you're doing it just because you want to do it without considering the resale then the only thing that matters is if the done project is worth the time and money invested to you......

So what is the asking price for this? And he's not sure if it's a 390 or a 427? The car is a S code correct? A well built 427 would add $15-20k value. The 63.5-65 427 topoilers made 410hp with a 4v and 425hp with a 8v. Tq was 476 (4v) and 480 (8v). For that kind of cash you can build a brand new Genesis or Pond 427 stroker engine. If he's not sure of what he has be careful. He might have been burned on it and is trying to pass it on as something it's not. If seeing the car in person is not an option you can always have someone knowledgeable look at and inspect the car. I wouldn't spend that kind of money without a good set of eyes looking at the car. Dave makes some very good points about the clones. Unless you use every Shelby part there is they just don't look right. I've seen guys do a knockout job on the exterior and leave a plain jane Mustang interior. Just looks funny to me.

you guys are probably right. I want the clone because I can't afford the real price of authentic. I still think unless you're in the 40-50k range you are going to get what you pay for. I will keep looking thanks for the help. If anybody has a good lead send it over.
