timing tab on 65 galaxie 352

I hooked up my timing light on my 65 galaxie 352 and did not find a tab or marks on the balancer, are they supposed to be there?

They were there 43 years ago, try lightly sanding the balancer with 320 paper and see if they come up. As far as the tab, I had no tab on my mustang. So I bought a TDC locator, its a 3 inch long brass plug you screw into your #1 plug hole. Then you turn the motor over by hand (with plugs removed) in both directions. Marking the balancer both ways around. Split the difference for your TDC. Then I made my own tab and mounted it to match the mark on the balancer. below is the part.
