What is a 1971 429 lincoln timing supposed to be?

A 1971 Lincoln should have a 460. 5 deg. initial advance.

One of my very first posts here was nearly the same question! Denny had provided me with the following which worked on the 1971(id'ed by the dOVE-C heads) lincoln 429 I had.
Point gap is .021
Dwell is 24-29
Plugs BRF 42
Plug gap .034
Timing 6º
BTW, for 70, in a galaxie, they list a 429 engine.

it is not a 1971 lincoln car... just the engine : ) it is now in a 1969 torino cobra... this is an ongoing experience to acutally find if it is a 429 or a 460... all indications show that i have been able to find say that it is a 429... but i am simply going by casting numbers on the block and heads. That is all that i have... any enlightment on how to positively ID it as a 429 or a 460 would be greatly appreciated!

take out a spark plug..... run the cylinder to tdc and insert a wire in the plug hole til it touches the piston, put a mark on the wire at the plug hole.... Run the cylinder to bdc, insert the wire in the plug hole till it touches the piston, mark the wire at the same place on the plug hole. Measure the distance between the marks, this will give you the stroke.

oh yeah..

429 stroke is 3.59
460 stroke is 3.85

1969 up Lincolns were 460's, the 429's were for the po' folks with Fords.
