Supercharged FE???????
Hi everyone, let me introduce myself as this is my first post. My name is Chris and I have a 1968 Ford XL Galaxie 2 door fastback with a 390fe, c6 auto and 9" Rear. I am starting to rebuild it and the focus will be on a large bore 6-71 supercharger. My problem is finding enough sources about running a 390fe with about 800hp.
Here is my plan:
390fe stroked to a 445 with survival motors 445 Stroker kit
Blue Thunder stage X or Edelbrock Stage 5 heads
Superchargers USA Large bore 6-71 blower kit
Transzilla T-56 6-speed Transmission
What I am looking for is a streetable car to take on the hotrod power tour, be able to drive it to car shows but be able to squeeze out a 10 second 1/4 mile every once in a while.
I am having trouble finding 390's built in a similar fashion. I want to see where the problems are and how they solved them and if the survival kit can handle 800+ hp. I have tried to e-mail them 2 or 3 times, but have yet to recieve a response.
Any ideas, thoughts on head choice anything you got, please bring it up. Last thing i want is to build a $15,000 motor that blows up in a week.
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
