Yep it has 2 different heads. The D2 heads do have a slightly different chamber shape and ports were a bit more refined than the C8-H. Chamber volume is close enough to be a non issue. Also the D2 heads had induction hardened exhaust seats from the factory. Somewhere along the line the C8 head was added to replace the original D2. Or if it was even a rebuild at some point it could have come that way. Who knows but it should be fine as is. There have been quite a few documented FE's that came from the factory with mis matched heads. While it's not ideal it'll run ok.

ffr428;yes i had two sold both, why did edelbrock design there 2x4 to accept there carbs only just to sell more carbs? this engine has more than enough room for holleys.i know in the offy catalog that only the small engine are for carters only all the big blocks take both.
todays advice: remember the last thing you see at night may be the first thing you see in the morning. think about it.

63 427 2x4 Intake
I have a 66 Galxie with a C3AE-9425 J intake, does anyone know if there is a difference between the "J", "H" and "K" intakes? In pics I have seen, they look the same Thanks
