New reproduction rubber mounts with used block mounts and supposedly 67 390 frame stands. Now using a 68 block and still wont line up.1964 Galaxie 428

If you have a parts house that actually has pictures of the mounts as in the books
you be able to find what you need. I've done this with several FE'sA Ranchero is NOT an El Camino

www.mansfieldmustang.com has pics of everything in the engine section. I'd just double check you have the right parts. Somethin's not right.

the engine mount situation can be resolved , are you using the gt head on the 64 block? you will be ok, but any other the shck towers will not clear the manifolds, you need the heads with the dual pattern, a freind tried to put a truck 390 into a fairlane, no body makes headers for this either the manifolds are too wide

be carefull the heads with mulit. bolt (exhaust) because the 390 with a 2-barrel carb came with the same exhaust pattern but the intakes are tiny.the smallest i have ever seen on a fe.the 428 cj use the same exhaust pattern and these were adver. as cj heads.but are not.be careful.
are you using the 2 bolt mounts or the 3 bolt engine mounts i used the 2 bolt to bolt a 428 into my 65 ford galaxie. the 67-up blocks have bosses for both types of mounts. good luck. the 2 bolt are u shaped. plus the transmission crossmember should be adjustable to give you a little wiggle roomLast edited by hotrodstude; 08-25-2009 at 07:01 AM.
