390 FE ford overheating
Hello Fellows
I just finish re-builting my 390. It have a performance RPM edelbrock complete kit, manifold dual plane, camshaft, timing chain, hydraulic lifter. I have compcam roller rockers. MSD ignition system and a 3 core aluminiun radiator. It have and edelbrock carburator. I change all the gaskets and make a flushing to the block. I make my brakedown just as Edelbrock suggested. It has a high flow oil pump. And the water pump is new as well.
When I start my engine and let it on idle, when 20 minutes pass, the temperature rise to 210, that I think is to hot.
It is really too hot or is normal this temp.

Actually, the motor will run better and may last longer being operated at 210 than it would at a lower temperature, like 200 or 190, provided you have the fuel/air mixture, ignition timing and fuel quality addressed.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

if you had an overheating problem 20 minutes of ideling would def show it .. as long as it cools a bit when you get moving you`re ok .. and being a fresh motor will make it a bit warmer for a whileiv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?

Are the head gaskets in the correct direction? Block off ends to the front.

Yes I recheck that looking photos of the assembly of the engine.

Are you using a shroud on your rad? If the temperature comes back down when you drive, it would indicate an air flow problem when idling. A shroud will improve that.Remember, Freedom isn't Free, thousands have paid the price so you can enjoy what you have today.
