Ford 427 sideoiler info needed
Was curious if anyone knew of any good literature on rebuilding and specs on the 427 sideoiler?

This may be the best publication out there for the FE Ford, shown here on the Survival site. It is written by Barry Robotnik, a fellow who is considered to know what he is doing. Barry runs Survival Motorsports and is the go-to guy when you need to know about an FE.

What I might do would be to buy Barry's book and read it through. If it doesn't answer all your questions, then use this form to contact the Survival team and get an answer. Be sure to mention when you pose your question that you have bought and read Barry's book and didn't get the answer there. People in business are more likely to help you if you have already spent some money with them.

Thank you, I have read just about the whole book it was very helpful. I was looking more along the line of clearances and torque spec. But I will definitely call them. I have called and talked to someone there before about a crank selection and he was very helpful. It was nice talking to someone who isn't just trying to sell you one of there products.

Pretty much like most other engines. I always use manufacturer's spec on the piston
side clearance. My Arias last time was .006. Mine were .020 down the hole.
A good machine shop is most important!! Check crank end play. Crank clearance
on bearings vary. Used to run .003 on rods and mains. I'd proly run .002 nowadays.
Your book should cover all that. You can drill out passage holes etc by the book
to help. Nice engines. .030 is max on boring. Always check deck height and line bore.Last edited by shoprat; 12-24-2010 at 08:56 PM.

Just found a nice site- precisionenginetech.com. Has a really nice step by step build on a 427 stroker with his specs and factory spec.
Thanks!! I usually do the "NZ Slang" lookup but decided to poke the bear this time! ;):D:p
