Seems I recall a thread about the Genesis folks at www.clubcobra.com
You might want to go there and do a search. As I recall it wasn't a favorable thread. Something about lots of promises for delivery but the date keeps getting pushed back.
Good luck!Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.

BUYER BE WARE!! I was given a writen promise of a delivery date for a genesis 427 block. When I was able to get in contact with them, I was given all kinds of excuses and other delivery dates. Finnaly I told them to send me my money back! I was told they couldn't cause they didn't have it! Tim Mcloughlin made me a promise to deliver my block in person to an engine builder about 65 miles from my home with in the week of our conversation. We set up a meeting time and date, I called him the night before and confirmed our meeting. He promised he would be there! He never showed up!!! Not even a phone call!!! After trying to get in touch with him for a week, I finnaly got a hold of him, I got more excuses and then was told that he shipped my block VIA Estes trucking, and that it shoiuld already be there. He said he would call me back with a tracking number. I never heard from him again! I called the trucking company, and they said no such company or person made such a delivery to the place Tim said he sent my block. Flat Lander racing(603)378-0090, had some of the Genesis blocks ,they sent them all back! I spoke with Phil, and he said the quality was less than acceptible. IF ANY ONE ELSE HAS GIVEN GENESIS MONEY AND CAN'T GET IT BACK, CALL YOUR LOCAL FBI, AND MAKE A FORMAL COMPLAINT. YOU MAY BE THE VICTIM OF FRAUD! THE MORE COMPLAINTS THE BETTER!!! Theses people have not been honest with there customers! they're crafty! BUT NOT HONEST!

I wish it were possible to have the proper authorities greet them there and catch them in the act. I also understand that Tim and Ron Read are going seperat ways, with our money!!! I've also made a complaint to the BBB of IN. they have an on line complaint form you can fill out .www.indybbb.org (317)488-2222. I hope the message gets around about these guys before they can rip any one esle off.

I believe the first run of blocks had a core shift issue.
What suprises me is how angry people are getting when they paid for a block that they knew up front that hadn't even been finished being designed yet. I seriously doubt Genesis began business with the intention of defrauding customers. By the way, you do know that Genesis is picking up a new financial backer, right?
Tell me which you would prefer...
A block that is rushed out with questionable quality or what was promised to the customers?
With the loss of Golden Foundry there are quite a few manufacturers caught up the creek without a paddle (World, Ford Motorsports, etc). Do you really want to see another startup manufacturer go down the tubes?

burned by Tim McGloughlin
I paid my $2000.00 deposit as an FE Club member back in October 2001. I stayed in contact with Tim and Ron (who left him). Then all communication stopped. I found out Tim sold out the company and all deposits were worthless. I will buy a Shelby block if I decide on buying an Aluminum Block. A lesson learned. I should have just saved up for the Shelby block in the first place!!!
There is a 427 AL block for sale now at 4450.00 on EBAY. Good luck in ever seeing a block if you also put a deposit down. Even the Indiana BBB could not help me. And all I wanted was for my $2000.00 be honored and I would pay the full price. I never even got a response.

If the new party bought the corporate entity (or if he continues to use the name, check with an attorney on that one) he's on the hook for the deposits whether he knew about them in the purchase agreement or not. If he just bought the assets (tooling, inventory, office equip, and so on) then your comment would be correct. If it's the former, and it's worth it to you, file in small claims court. If you have documentation it's a slam dunk in your favor. Only thing is, you'll have to file in his jurisdiction and even with a judgement you'll still have to pursue collection, but at least you'll be on legal ground rather than just giving up.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

1 on 1 talks on this sort of thing are usually better than phone calls, debts get paid in their order of priority and standing there man to man usually makes that individual priority Then you can tell whether you want to goto court or you want to settle right there.Number 1 motovator of children and men is fear and if he fears you ,then he will pay you,I am not telling you to get beligerant or threaten him all I am saying is to chose your words wisely and he may see the light. Then after all logical roads have been traveled down .....then its time for commando tactics and it does not hurt to put a foot up the arse from time to time, heck its only 24 hrs in the pokey and the same lame paperwork you will have to do ,now he will have to do too if he wants to pursue it.Words are powerful and what those words make another man think, just may get you a refund. Some debts are high priority and some are not,I just showed you a way to make your deposit high priority. Just remember he has probably had some discomforting phone calls and letters .e-mails and such already and may be in a state of mind to pay the first real encounter he has with one of these people and he may have 3,4,500 bucks in his pocket right then{just for that purpose} and may feel compelled to pay a partial restitution,You may not want to get this motavated about collections,if so,then the way Bob pointed out would be best for you then. Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)
How much did Santa have to pay for his sleigh? Nothing! It's on the house! .
