Some part number deciphering if you pleases
OK, all straightened out. Heads are C6AE-R, and the Rods are C7AE-R. I know both are from 66 and 67 Gals, but could someone tell me what the -R heads are and the -R rods are from? And coincidentally, are these magical part number books still available in repro? I have a repro 64 Gal manual but doesn't tell me squat about anything but 64 parts. Is there some universal part number deciphering Ford book out there you guys use? Thanks for all the Help, its much appreciated!

Well first the Steve Christ " How to rebuild your big block Ford" is a good start for some quick number and tech info. I think the rods you have are C7AE-B not R. Some of the casting numbers are faint and hard to id. Anyhow the rods are 390/428/427 rods and some prefer them to the Lemans cap screw type. Overall an excellent rod. The heads are listed as 66 352 only heads. What only means maybe specific to the 66 year only for the 352 my guess. They have 71.2-74.2 cc chambers. Hope this helps you out some....G.

FWIW check out www.gearheadracing.com click on reference. Then scroll down to heads and click on head casting numbers. Then click on the ford casting numbers explained section. This is a detailed explanation and breakdown on ford casting numbers. Thought it might help answer some your questions. Good reading, G.
