A 410 is just a 390 block with a 428 reciprocating assembly that came in the big 66-67 Merc's, different pistons from a 390 though because of the longer stroke. Using original parts you can put together a fairly stout high torque engine. Use a PI intake, 750'ish cfm vac. secondary carb, a modern split pattern cam, and a free flowing exhaust.
The only way I would consider trying to turn it into a 428 (4.13" bore) is after you get a sonic check done to verify cylinder wall thickness. Even then I probably wouldn't bore it out the .080" because an extra 18 ci isn't going to make that much difference.
The first model car I built was a 32 Ford roadster by Revell in the mid 50's.
How did you get hooked on cars?
