    Question Different Engine....?

I recently got a 66 thunderbird with a 390 that needs major rebuilding...like anyone, i am also looking for more horsepower...i was wondering if i should look into the 428 which is rated for 345 horsepower as apposed to 315 (in the 390), look into the more expensive route of a 427 with 2X4 Barrel rated at 425 horsepower, or finally just keep with the originals and modify it?

Is this a numbers matching car? Is it important to you ?? How big is your piggy bank???? These are some of the questions you need to answer first. Sure the ultimate would be a nice 427 but if you don't have a small fortune to spend build that 390 as advised above.....or the 428 is nice also. Or if cash is an issue pick up a 428 crank and make a 410 out of it and keep the original engine in it. JMO, G.

i would just rebuild the 390, with some more performance parts, they are excellent motors
