I am building a mild 351C 2V for my 56 ford 2 dr. I am looking in the Summit catalog, and I am wondering what the quality is like on their cams, lifters, timing chains, etc. They are less money than the name brands, But are they worth the savings? Thanks.

I agree, All to often we buy the name brand just to say we have it . Summit doesnt build those cams so you know it is built by one of the majors and Summits reputation is on the line so it has to be good. That goes for any other parts they sell under their label.Something like headers, it should be pretty clear when you are paying , lets say 86 bucks for a set , they are not going to be as good as a 400 set. read what they are made of and decide for yourself. If you take care of them they will still give good service. I have used their 14.95 mufflers several times and for the money you cant beat them.

The Mullfers are made by Walker Muffler I'm pretty shure and, Walker Muffler also makes Thrush Mufflers, and Dynomax Clamps, I know they make the Dynomax clamps because, I ordered 2 2" stainless Dynomax band clamps and, when I got them, the boxes said Walker Muffler.

I have an '81 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup with 305/2bbl and 350 THM running a Summit version of the 327/275hp cam with their lifters and a timing chain set. My stepdaughter and her granddad mostly drive the truck, and they aren't very careful with it's maintenance. I would say that after almost two years, the thing runs better than it did 6 months after the cam/lifter/timing chain redo. I like Comp Cams, and usually use their stuff, but I couldn't justify the expense in this instance so I used the Summit brand instead. I've got no regrets at this point, the Summit merchandise apparently is as good as any other brand they sell through their catalog business. If you choose to go with Summit's house brand, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

i've got summit glasspacks on my car and they work great i'm not sure about rust or anything cause i've only had them on for a month so far but they do the job well

walker has a line of dynomax stuff, muf. headers, and clamps. far as i know walkers Hi Prof. stuff is dynomax.

i've bought a lot of summit parts over the years for all my vehicles, never been dissappointed... ussually saves you a coupla bucks and they haven't ever failed on me

Thanks for all the input. With the diff. in price, I can get my cam, lifters and double roller timing chain set for the price of Comp. Cam set. I basically get my timing chain for free. thanks.
