hey Dave,
Your preaching to the choir. My car ran a dismal 9.0 in the 1/8 mile and only put out 200 rwhp when I first dynoed it. I had all the go fast parts but I could'nt tune the thing. A lot of reseach and reading and two trips to the dyno I'm happy. I'm going to the track in two weeks and think it might run better that 9.0 at 82 mph.
later dennis

Just wish they weren't so dang expensive, would love to have one!!! The closest one I have access to is about 200 miles away, other than the portable that comes around to some of the car shows. At the shows it's usually so busy, you're lucky to get more than 2 pulls on it in an afternoon. Even the 200 mile trip is worthwhile, like I said in another post, I've spent a heck of a lot more to get a heck of a lot less in improvements !!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Upgrades LLC (Huntingtonstreets.com) is 6 mile from my house and great guy. Lots of rice there but good guys. they just do the pulls you do the tuning. they even post the dyno's. I'd like to see what his combo does because I have a gt40 head motor I'm wondering about.

I know I am late on this thread but I have been trying to do some reading on Ford motors and the 302 and have found some pretty good info. I was wondering, when it goes for rebuild time on my 77 LTD 302, would it be worth it to put a 347 stroker kit in it or just save up more and buy a 351? I plan to put an intake manifold on it from Edelbrock, a carb, new water pump, new fuel pump, etc all from Edelbrock but if I can build a nice powerful street motor from a 351 for cheaper then I may hold off on all this and do that... 347 and 351 isn't too much of a difference too so that is why I am wondering? :?
Thanks!www.streamlineautocare.com

Almost forgot to add, I will be putting a whole new ignition system like MSD distributor and box, etc on it and the carb is a must because it's old and I am getting no vacuume advance out of the carb side...www.streamlineautocare.com

the difference to a 347 and a 351 is big, the 347 is higher compression, and lighter, its the same thing as a 302, but different cracnk, rods and pistons... its a full performance engine, the 351 to build up costs a lot a more too, if you start looking manifolds, and such are more pricey for 351s, most of it is interchangeable with other SBF engines, but the stuff that isn't costs a lot more ussually.... depending what the engine goes in and what your main driving use is will depend which motor you should build.... if you want i'll try hunting down an article from JBA that went step by step to build a 500HP 302 for about $500.... the article was written with machining considered free though...just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

My 79 'Tang with a warmed-over '69 Hi-po 351W putting out maybe 350 hp has never had any problem with "400HP" 302's getting by it. You can't beat...well, you know. The only dyno that counts is long and black and two lanes wide.
Merry Christmas ya'll
