    Casting number question

Ok so I'm sure everyone is tired of the old casting number question.... I have a set of rods C3AE and on the other side GL55AL-K but what does this one mean? I can't seem to find anything about the rods, I'm pretty sure I know what the C3AE is but what about the other? -Erik

If I remember correctly, the other numbers are just the foundry numbers. The C3AE numbers determine the year of mfg (63), the AE is what engine they are for.

Hmm, see I bought this engine...well parts from a guy, the block is a 68' 302 used in a 289 when they ran out of 289 blocks. If the engine is a 68 why wouldn't he just use the 68 connecting rods and why 63? They didn't start making mustangs till 64 1/2 right? I had hoped that other number would give me some insight to figured out if the connecting rods are in some way special IE: HiPo rods -Erik
