the CCs are bigger on the 351 heads, but the flow depends on what model heads they are.... the E5 for those heads means 85, if they're HO heads then they'll flow about equal to or better than the 351 heads, but since they're less CCs means that you'll have more compressionjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

Do not bolt either one of those heads to a performance shortblock. For want of a better word all sb ford production heads suck. Buy a set of aftermarket heads AFR, World, Trick flow or Ebrocks you will be much happier. Good luck and stay away from production heads.

sometimes people dont have the cash for aftermarkets, production heads can flow very well with a little port work if they're the right heads, generally HO heads are very good once ported because they give you that higher CR than standards.... but if you do have the funding, i'd reccomend buying a set of aftermarket heads... you will be happierjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

The E5 heads suck less than the E6 heads. Not reassuring eh? For stock type iron heads the late 351's will be a loss of compression and the E7's from the later years are okay with some porting and cleanup. Explorers in 96 yield iron GT40 heads and the 97 up Explorer has GT40P heads that have a lot of potential with minimal work. Header fitment can be a pain but they flow well. For low dollar investment and your labor to port and polish along with good valve springs you can twist some hp out of the P heads and there are some iron GT40P heads in the six second bracket. Not too bad for a worthless iron factory head.Last edited by w2zero; 01-31-2006 at 12:23 AM.
