Distributor for 1970 6 cyl Ford.
The wife has a 1970 Ford 6 cyl and wants to swap out her point type dizzy for an electronic TFI-IV dizzy from an 89 6 cyl Ford.
Will it fit, and will it work?52 Ford F-1, 327 Chevy, S-10 frame

If not, pick up a Pertronix kit to convert to electronic.

that distributor won't work for a older small 6, the DSII distributor from a later 70's 200/ 250 I6, assuming this is a small I6, if it's a 240/300 big six, a later 300 distributor could work but would be complex because they do have computer controls for the EFIYou don't know what you've got til it's gone

I believe a 2 ohm I used one from a BMW from ebay. this is what I did for my 289 1968 ford motor with a full 12 volts to dist. ed ke6bnl ,for the 170 motor I did not complete the install so this is what I had started to gather.

Last one I swaped out of an aircraft tug. It had a 300 in it with points. I found a 79 model truck with the same 300 motor and used it. You get the distributer and the small wireing harness off the truck that goes to the small electronic box on the firewall. Find an engine the same size as mentioned above with a carb instead of EFI. What motor do you have?

The engine she has is a 300 CID I-6. The dizzy is a single points, dual diaphram vacuum advance. I wish the GM HEI would fit. It would be so much easier. I was considering using the GM HEI module with the points, but how do you get the points to close at the high point instead of open???52 Ford F-1, 327 Chevy, S-10 frame

go with the pertronix unit, it works very easily, has a lifetime warranty, and will cost you about $70-100 for the trigger and coil, takes 5 minutes to install and you never have to think about it againjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

Any 75 and up will have electronic ignition,I would stay away from the 89 as it wont have a vacumn advance and its set up for the computer to controll the advance. 75 to around 84 should have the ignition system you need and make sure it has the blue gromment brain box. Jeff
