Help me identify a Ford engine.
Where are the numbers on a Ford V8? I got a 68 Ford pick up. The VIN # is on the door instead of on the cowl. I can't find numbers on the block yet, but there are 2 numbers on the intake manifold. The truck body looks like it's had many changes, so I don't trust the VIN #. The engine has bolts in the heads where the EGR was.
VIN #: F10ykc86121
Manifold #: 8A16 and C*FE9425*
Any help would be appreciated.52 Ford F-1, 327 Chevy, S-10 frame

I don't know much about the smallblocks but the 8A16 on the intake is a 68/Jan/16th date code.

C=1960-1969
8=Narrows the C down to 1968
F=I think is the mfg plant
E=Engine part
9425=Intake manifold part number

Well that's the breakdown of the casting number but each intake has a paticular casing number. My books are 1000 miles away or I'd be able to better help you out. I'll be home this weekend so I can check for you then if no one else can help you out. But by the date code breakdown for certain it's a 68 intake. The heads and block have numbers also. On the big blocks the head numbers are between the center 2 spark plugs. I'm not sure where they are on the small block heads tho but maybe see if they are there?? After 38 years it posssible some parts have been swapped but maybe not. Sorry i could not be more helpful......

In the meantime you can also try this smallblock forum over at net54.
www.network54.com/Forum/119417
You can also do a "search by match" for part numbers there. I tried but came up empty so try the forum guys.
