    Comp Cam in 351W

I got this 351W put into my 66 but not completely done with the install. I am hoping to get it done either this weekend or next after fitting some things on and making a couple of small brackets. Anyways this thing has a Comp Cam Xtreme 4X4 cam in it. My truck is NOT a 4X4 off roading vehicle but that's just what the guy put in and he said it is fine. Here is the link to it: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
What do you guys think of that? Is it just pretty much RIGHT above a stock cam specs or what? I don't know much about cam numbers like which are stock numbers and what are a big lopy. I want a nice little rough idle to it but I doubt that one is anything.
Any info on it would be great. As far as the 351 goes, it has that cam, C9 heads that are ported and polished, MSD pro billet dissy, MDS 6A box, MSD timing control, Stealth intake manifold and a temporary 500 cfm Edelbrock carb. The carb WILL be switched to a 600 or 650 Holley as soon as I can, I do not like the edelbrocks for quite a few reasons. Also the tranny is just a plain C4 with shift kit and 2300-2500 stall so if I wanted to go on a little lopy cam I guess I could later.
    I'd appreciate any help!
    Thanks.

Oh and as far as the whole 1500-5000 RPM range on the cam, I think that is fine because I have 3.70 gears and run about 3000-3300 RPMS on the freeway and such.

that's gonna have a slight lope, not too bad tho. if you wanted a cam with more lope, have a light- mild cam ground on 106* centers. the cam you have is 111* so it's smoother. don't go bigger because of the sound, you'll regret it, because you'll loose the bottom end.

What is the stock ground on a 351 cam? And thanks for the info Matt. I will definetely stick with this cam until I rebuild the motor again but that will not be for a long time I hope since it's a fairly new motor with around 20,000 miles on it. I got it from an older guy that is a good friend and he helps me out all the time. He upgraded to (my favorite) a 460 and sold me this one.

pretty shure stock is 112* lobe centers. often referred to as LCA in some catalogs, such as Speedway Motors.

I still got the '51. I was going to have it finished b4 snow fall but I got called into work early, so I don't have much time to work on it. I plan to get the body ready for primer thru the winter, prime, paint it in the spring and finish it up. I have everything except tires to finish it, and some fuel line ( gonna run all new lines ) but that's nothing big. I have the money for tires in a seperate account, just gonna order them when I'm ready for them. I bought the interior from www.rodinteriors.com like I alwats planned ( excelent product ). $1,400 including shipping for a 2 tone vinyl interior, headliner, custom fit seat covers, door panals, windlace, and 1 yard extra of each color, enough to do the sun visors, rear shelf and arm rests. I didn't get carpet because they don't sell the right purple or a pure white carpet. I had PPG Delstar paint color matched to swatches of material I brought into the paint store, so the car will be 100% color matched

That will make a really sweet street cam. You'll like the way the motor pulls from down low and it should make good manifold vacuum, unlike a rump-rump cam.
The only guys you're foolin' with a rump-rump cam are the geeks who don't know any better. The old guys will just laugh at you.

Heh I got ya now Techy. lol The old guy I bought the engine from said that he liked it and helped a bit from stock. He also said that this stealth intake manifold is probably the best manifold he has used on a 351. Looks to be made very nicely. Now all that has to go is this horrible Edelbrock. I will probably never buy another Edelbrock for a good few reasons. Holley here I come!
Matt, I will have to look into that company for my 54 belair. I want just black and white in my car so that shouldn't be hard to find. lol

they have black and white in vinyl. 3 of there styles got discontinued ( V8, Nifty 50 and Techline ), and all special order faberic, as all that was not selling well. but they will custom anything they still sell. I bought Classic style seat covers, normally they have a "cap" on the bottom front of the seat and 1 on the top of the seat, I did not want the "cap on the bottom front of the seat, they left it out for me. I was going to get V8 seat covers but they were discontinued. The special order faberic was nothing special but expensive, so it was no big loss.
