Shelby troubles.....
ok so i got the shelby all cleaned back together.... fired up on the bench wonderfully.... threw it in my mustang hooked the tranny up.... the engine wont turn with the tranny hooked up.... so i loosened it up a bit and tried turning again works fine.... the tranny was hooked up to a 302, so i'm wondering would the crank pilot on the torque converter be different in any dimmension than that of a 289??? i've never really had a problem like this before.... everything turns just fine too as long as there is about a quarter inch gap between the bellhousing and the blockjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

Now pull everything out again and check your converter tangs, and check your pump to see that it is not damaged ?? When you put the converter in again spin it untill you get a double thunk, as the stator and pump engage.
Oh and hope you dont find to many broken parts."aerodynamics are for people who cant build engines"

i haven't run it like this yet...... thats what it seems like to me that the conv isn't set in there, but i keep pullin it and reseating it properly and sliding the tranny back onto the engine
edit: ok so i took a closer look and noticed that the flexplate was put on backwards..... figures..... thats the only thing i had my friend do while i wasn't watching him.... why i didn't double check it right away.... thats definately my faultLast edited by thesals; 12-23-2006 at 05:45 PM.
