    ford 300 CI engine

Don't see a forum where I could put a six in so I used the ford small block. I have a 300 Ford 6 engine and always liked the way they performed. Very weak with a single one barrel carb and no air flow but clifford has alot of speed equipment for this engine and was interested in one part that I've never heard before. It's called a post divider for cylinders 3 & 4 which seperates the exhaust pulses. Again never heard of this being done and was wondering how you would put this on. I'm guessing it's got to be welded and was wondering if anyone has done this before.
Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

For a street engine it seems a bit extreme. They used to do the same sort of thing with Ford flatheads, and it wasn't worth the nickel exdept on all-out race engines (and sometimes even not then!).

i've seen it done with a header with a part that goes in on the exhaust port to separate the two cylinders.... dont know how well it works, i'm sure theres some seepage still.... only really works good though if put all the other goodies on her too.... btw 300s are a great motor with a lot of capability.... for a long time at the el cajon speedway here(before it was shut down) a local builder was running a car with a 300 on the circle track that was just killing all the v8 cars.... he was boasting 400 HP NA

Best engine I have ever owned,I like it as much as my 460 for work and play.
I abused that 300 like no engine should ever be,my rev limiter was valve float which happened at about 5000-4500 rpm.I had big mudder tires on my 77 truck and would drop it in low and hold it to the floor ,2 wheel drive and shoot across the dirt /mud and snow like a wild man
I even had that truck and engine about 5 feet off the ground with a stock suspention
I could not imagine a built 300.......They sound good too.
Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

My dad had an old 85 with the 300 I-6 in it. It was a great motor, but that damn feed-back carb set up was a complete PITA!!! After 5 carbs done by the local Ford dealer and 2 done by me and dad, we finally got one that would half way work right on that motor. Never did figure out what the deal was on it though. He traded that truck in for a 98 F-150.

Gunmetal Grey 88 TC, 2.3L 4-cylinder Turbo, Ranger Roller cam, adj. cam gear -4*, T3 Garrett Turbo (0.48 hot side/0.60 cold side), Spec Stg. III clutch, 79 Pinto oval port head (mildly ported with over sized valves), gutted upper and knifed lower, Super Coupe Throttle body, and a few other mods.

Running 17# of boost and loving it, though looking for more!

Later a Big NPR FMIC and Holset Turbo

oi ve..... yeah those years with the duty cycle carbs can be a major PITA..... i think its easier to build a total FI map than to tune one of those babies
