Question Clevelend cam gear end play ..with Rollmaster

Hello any one loaded...Rollmaster timing gear set with thrust roller bearing plate behind cam gear on 351C?...When i load gear i loose almost all cam end play...down to aprox .001 .002 ths max...this seems tight to me.. is it normal with roller thrust plate to run this tight?...with stock cam gear i'm bang on end play...008th.... Anyone run this set up on 351C....I'm thinking because its roller trust..its alriight to go a tad tight...OR should i grind block thrust plate..to get my .008 ths back?...any help or idea's?

    Thanks Daryl

    Build 351C/408cid stroker...shoot'n for 450+BHP...

Dayrl; I've got a 351C and I'm running the Pete Jackson gear drive and thats a little tight too. I think I would be more worried if it had to much play.
I would just make sure it spins free and that it is not locking up.
Most of the time you hear of someone having to use a spacer with them
you hardly ever hear of one being to tight. Kurt

if you have to much end play with a thrust roller bearing you can beat the bearing out so 002 would be fine .if you want to add a .001 to it that can be done by lapping the cam thust plate on a flat surface with320 wet dry paper and some wd40 less you have a surface grinder but l would run it at 002
