    Help id 351c heads

I just bought a 69 Mach 1. The car came with a 351 Cleveland, condition unknown. The engine was transplanted 20 years ago but was never fired. The Heads are not marked with a 2 or 4. they are casting DIAE-AIC. It is a Cleveland, but nobody has been able to id the heads.

    Anybody know what they are?

It's been about 35 years since I played with a Cleveland block, so a little rusty on info. However, the heads should have a 2 or 4 cast into the corner of the head somewhere if they are Clevelands. Could you have a 351M or 400? Here is a good site with lots of info:

No idea if they are good or not. Hopefully someone can chime in on that. I think the chambers were a little bigger than the 351's at 77-79 cc's. Not positive on that tho.

Look in the corner of the heads like Itooldyouso said, right beside the edge of the valve cover in the corner you should be able to see a 2 or a 4 on the head.
You don't have to take anything apart to see it.
As far as I know all the Cleveland Heads were the same, I never heard that the 400 had a differant head. I though all the 351M's and the 400M's came with a 2.05 intake valve in 2V heads.
Though there was 2 differant 4V heads, 2 Differant intake Valves. 2,23, 2.19
I think the 2.19 was on the Boss 302's as well.

    HI Kurt
There are no markings on the corners of the heads.

I've seen this before where some part has a number on it that comes up nowhere. I just picked up a 454 Chevy engine that is that way. It is a Gen VI four bolt main for sure, but the part number on the block doesn't show up on Mortec or any other source.

Maybe post some good pictures of your Ford head and someone might be able to ID it from that.

Are they cast heads or did someone put aluminum heads on it?
If it is cast and you still don't a 2 or a 4 beside the valve covers.
I would say it's not a 385 engine, Cleveland or modified.
    Might be a 351 Windsor.

wow those pictures are big! I guess this means no one knows what they are. I have had a couple of local experts look at it, always with the same result; They are baffled. One thing is certain... it is a 351C and not a 400 block. I sure would like to know what the heads are but I guess I will find out if they are what I need when I yank them off and measure. Thanks for all the help.
