rebuilt 302 won't start
just finished building a 302. turns over but won't start. only seems to be firing on 4 of 8 cylinders. got fuel. all got spark. not sure what could cause this.

yup, even the ones not firing got spark. n you can smell the gas on them when i pulled them. messed w/ the distributor a bit-seemed to help a little but still no go.

sounds like the distributor may be off a few teeth. 180 off maybe? backfiring out the carb too?

yea it is backfiring out the carb. i just learned that there was another firing order for later 302's. even though that isn't what is was originally stock. the new cam that was put could have changed that. so i'm gonna give that a try.

Yep, the X cam I'm installing calls for 351 firing order. Did you get a cam card with your cam?

so i just switched the firing order over to the 351 cam setup and i think that did the trick. they are all firing i just have to do so tweeking to keep it running. thank you
Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
