    Ranchero idle problems

I recieved a 78 ranchero 500 from my grandpa a month or so ago. And at first it was fine the weather was nice no problems. Then as soon as it started getting colder the idle and problems with the car stalling started to happen. I need to know what kind of problems the car could be having and ive tried looking at the carb. to see if their is anything wrong with teh outside of it, because i dont know much about carbs. And just today my car did not start, not even cranking. So now i dont know what could be causing that besides the battery or alternator. As well when the car does run it cant seem to keep a steady idle.

Probably a carb and choke problem.... Has the car been sitting for sometime? The junk they're selling as gasoline can go bad in as little as 30 days now... Not cranking is a battery issue, is there something draining it or just an old, worn out battery?

Ya my grandpa had it sitting in his garage for 2-3 years. the battery is really worn out and rigged into its position. but i am going to check the connections to the battery make sure its not as simple as that. But if thats not it im going to charge the battery and see if i just need a new battery.

If you can get it started take it to a shop or auto parts store that can do a load test on the Battery. After you get that fixed you can start to deal with the stalling.
