However, since you mentioned Keith Black, I guess you don't remember/know that he passed away years before his name was sold by family members to this piston company-----------I knew Keith personally, and he, like many others, knew no limits----
Jerry, I did not know that about Keith Black. I do recall that he was one of the strong runners back in the day, and that's why we remember his name today.

I'm not sure about strong runner, he was the engine builder for the Greer, Black, Prudhomme car that was practically unbeatable, especially at Lions. As I recall it seemed he, Prudhomme, ran mostly from the spectator lane and more often than not he would lift the front wheels for at least 60 feet or so.

Sounds like a winner to me, Jerry. I know a lot of stuff was trial and error and proven on the strip.

Well, I won't go into any long specifics but I finally got my dash back and started getting it ready to go back together.

Thought some might like to see a pic or two.. Hard to not get the gauges reflecting back...

I am way behind schedule and projects have stacked up! Once I get the dash and new gauges installed I still need to figure out the tune-up for the carbs.
Last time I ran it - it would set your eyes on fire!

As a teenager... I'd love the sting! Now, not so much.

Way behind with projects stacked up??? Sounds familiar!!!! Went to a test and tune session at the digs on Sunday (an .020 light, ran 7.82 @ 168 mph, the old man still has it!!!) and a couple of the guys had their alcohol cars out for a shakedown, they were both way fat on the tune up so everyone in staging had the watery eyes!!!!

Yeah, first time out for the year is always the best!!! Now I like to roam around the pits and see which of the other old farts lived through another winter!!!!!!

The car I drove was a '67 Comet (557" Ford on ethanol) that I built for a friend of mine about 15 years ago......A couple of young guys bought it last winter and asked me to come out and set the chassis for them, guess it still works!!!! I was thrilled with the light, though not too many years ago I would have been kicking myself in the butt for being slow!!!!! They'll be running Super Comp with the car, did a twist on the throttle stop and the new (proud) owner laid down a 7.90 with a 6, then backed it up with a 7.90 with a 2----Needless to say we all went home happy!!!!!!

The dash looks like you took a piece of 3" thick walnut and started carving! Very nice grain flow, and they did great on the clear coat, too. Gonna look great in place - just don't forget and try to carve your initials in the wood....

Your dash looks amazing! Someday I want to do that to mine in the 40. Probably won't be this year.
