    more 302 problems

alrighty so i fixed my rocker problem, i have a carb problem, it seems to not choke properly and so it will flood when the engine is warm.... but my real problem is this, sunday night i'm out cruising in my galaxy, the 302 is just pumpin right along no problems and tempature gauge says that its all good, so i get about 20 miles from home and it starts steaming.... so i stop her and open the hood and pull the radiator cap, its empty... the next morning i find out why, a freeze plug(the one behind the motor mount) blew out, anyone know what would cause enough pressure in my cooling system to blow a freeze plug out?

Did it blow out or did it rot away?? It very well could hae rotted away mine did that, and yes it left no trace of the plug.
It could also be the plug wasnt set in all the way, or your rad. cap was not venting excess presure like it is posed to.

oh it blew out, the engine had just been rebuilt, my idiot friend, who is never working on anything i own again, put the thermostat in backwards.... he wants to be a professional mechanic and i dont think its a good idea, he built my engine as a college project, first he didn't plastigauge the bearings and overtightened them, crank got eaten alive, he broke a timing chain cover, hes broken plug wires, he forgot to put the oil pump drive shaft in, he stripped the flex plate bolt holes on my new crank, he put the thermostat in backwards, and he bought the wrong valves with my money so i had to buy a second set, thats enough to say hes never touching my car again.... but now i think I've fixed everything hes broken and my 69 galaxy is running great, the timing needs to be adjusted a little more but pulling the distributor to get a lil better timing can wait til tomarrow..

yeah, after he screwed up my crank i rebuilt the engine myself which took 2 weeks with about an hour every night.... the only reason i didn't catch the thermostat being in backwards was because i left the housing on the intake manifold. and luckily some college students aren't so bad at building engines. my engine is running excellent now that I've fixed all the problems that were caused by my idiot friend.... now the only problem i need to fix is the air fuel mixture on my carb so I'm not pulling a pathetic 8/mpg
