    bad bodies...

Some manufactuers of fiberglass bodies seem to have a good reputation, while others don't. Just read about Gibbon's slide downhill. Most know to avoid a Street Beast. There seems to be more brands of 32-34 bodies than I can count.

It's been a few years since I got a good look at some brands. Anyone had a close look at a recent Wild Rod or Oze product? Any opinions?

I own a newly built Oze body and I'm pretty happy with the quality of the body and frame, however the doors don't fit as well as I thought they should. Before this one, I owned a Wildrod but sold it before it was finished. It too was a nice body. Panels were very straight and fit well, which means a lot less time working on the body before paint. If you like the swoopy style, I'd recommend either one. I've heard bad things about C2C bodies. My builder also said that Downs quality has slipped, that their molds are old and distorted.

Highlands Ranch, that is Colorado, right?

There are several traditional body builders within a day's drive of you:

    Ravon in Billings, MT http://www.ravonstreetrods.com/

Show Me Rod and Custom in Highlandville, MO (Between Branson and Springfield) http://www.showmerodandcustom.com/

Redneck in Eastern Kansas (Sorry, don't have a link).

Pete and Jakes builds one of the best chassis in the business and Show Me or Redneck will pick one up for you and build your body on your frame.

Randy at Ravon offers chassis and builds some of the best bodies around.

But if you like the Wild Rod, Oz Rod, Coast to Coast look you have three options, unless of course, you also like the Boydster II.

I think these phantom deco styled cars a passing phase. If you look at the history of the hobby the traditional cars are always there. But you gotta go with what pulls your chain.

I don't know how Dave S knows about Street Beasts, but I have personal knowlege of their bodies. 'Cause I'm building one of their '41 Willys kit cars. I ordered the Executive option and when it came crated to my garage, the basic body, doors, deck lid,and hood were straight as could be.No parting lines or anything. And the fit was first rate. They seem to really have their act together.Keep you posted.

    batstar70....

there are several guys on this forum that buy several 'glass bodies a year...Kenny Davis is one that comes to mind. Their input is valuable since they have a larger base that the rest of us who do one a year(s).

Do a search from the banner at the top of the page for your manufacturer and you will get a lot of opinions regarding them...
I should say opinions and experiences.

Best of luck with your car....post pictures when you can.

I think anyone you ask will have an opinion on this. But I also think if you use a company that is smaller in size and units you will have a better product simply because the molds are not used as hard.
    If you are looking for a '32 or a 34' I would suggest www.nnfiberglass.com
That is who I used and so far it has been perfect.

Here is my build with pictures to see their product

I'm just saying that the Street Beasts company seems be getting a bad rap, quality wise. And in my case I don't think its justified. batstar70

Street Beasts don't have some dimensions/ designes right ( correct or near the originals ) that other fiberglass reproduction companies do have right, this causes there resale to be lower than 1 made by a diffrent manufacture, there fit and finish might be top notch, but they just don't look quite right when put up agenst another brand body.
